Kristin Anderson | The Model

FILED IN: Fashion, Personal

It’s Kristin Anderson the model from New York city here! Yes! Before I was a photographer, I was a model, actress and make-up artist in New York City, for 20 years!

Young and in The City:

I had no idea what I was doing in front of the camera. But after much direction, trial and error, I became adept at not only at posing myself, but even more so, at directing others to pose well. Over 25 years later, I’m excellent at it!

I was for sure a B model, maybe even a C model, but I shot a ton, worked a little and I learned a LOT from the inside out! Very often I would do my own make up for a modeling shoot and the photographers I worked with would like it so much that they began hiring me to do it for other models. That is how I became a make up artist.

Well, broader than just make up, I also did the hair and the nails. I was one of the first nail techs to be on editorial sets back in the 90’s. I still have my original MAC train case. It’s “vintage” now! That is so funny to me!

So here are some of my modeling portfolio images from back in the 90’s in New York City! All film! There is such a softness to film that digital cant replace. It really is beautiful, so I am so glad I have all of these! I do not recall all of the names of the photographers, but I captioned the ones I recall. I wish I saved my appointment books from Wilhelmina!

Photographer links:

Here are links to a few I recall and who still are in the biz! Roger Cabello, Jaramay Aref, Ilan Rubin, Andrew Rosenthal.

Kristin: What an excellent collection of shots! It’s great that you put them together for Internet posterity! Love the 1990s style. I have several myself from my 1980s modeling stint. I’ll have to dig up and dust off!
